What We Do

After hurricane Agnes in 1972 and the subsequent flood there were many in need. It was in this need our pantry was founded. The Coventry Food Pantry provides food and household supplies to residents in need in the Owen J. Roberts School District. With help from donations and state funding the pantry gives out monthly supplies for families and individuals with food insecurities. We have many other programs and special distributions. At the end of summer we provide the children of clients with school bags and supplies. We also have Thanksgiving and Holiday meals to support individuals and families with the support they need during those times.

Weekend Backpack Program

Good nutrition over the weekend helps children return to school on Monday morning feeling well and ready to learn, instead of being sick, weak or unable to concentrate. Hunger puts kids at risk for health and development problem. The Coventry Food Pantry hosts a backpack program in the OJR school district. Food is distribute to qualified students at the end of each week in backpacks to protect the students confidentiality.
